Not straightforward…

Over the past 25 years we’ve installed 000’s of metres of our Tallwall units and probably 99% of the time, the walls which have been covered are perfectly straight, but here’s one that isn’t…
Symantec’s new headquarters in Reading have two curved feature walls at the one end of the building. Working in conjunction with Morgan Lovell, we were asked to create 26 x 1000mm wide modules which would follow the curvature of these walls.

As the images illustrate, the black and white units provide a striking contrast to each other and yet blend in perfectly to the surrounding environment.

Soft to the touch…

Introducing Panel Plan’s ‘Softwall’

Designed and built by Panel Plan’s expert team on behalf of Absolute Furniture, these extremely comfortable and stylish seating pods have recently been installed in the headquarters of the General Medical Council (GMC) in Manchester.

“We are always looking to innovate and come up with new ideas”, comments Bob Cole, Panel Plan’s sales director, “and these pods are very much in vogue”.

“The problem of course…” continues Bob, “…is that not many companies are able to produce them, and if they are, they tend to be at a size that suits them, rather than tailor made”.

As the image shows, the Panel Plan Softwall is certainly an inviting place to spend time in.

Can’t see the TV?

That was the problem facing our customer, Excek Office Solutions as they created this new office environment in Central London.

The original specification called for sliding doors which would allow for easy access to the Tallwall units. However, in order to gain access to the shelving, the sliding doors, when opened, would obscure the large screen, which is in constant use.

For Panel Plan the solution was simple – a bi-folding sliding door.

Top hung with a guide rail at the foot of the unit, the door hinges and slides across seamlessly to reveal one half of the unit at a time therefore providing easy access without getting in the way of the screen - simple!

An eclectic mix’

“It feels as if we’ve covered the length and breadth of the UK over the past couple of months”, exclaimed Bob Cole, Panel Plan’s sales director.

And it’s no exaggeration – as this eclectic mix of storage units, lockers and various assorted projects demonstrate;

Lipstick Red doors really add a splash of colour to these locker units for Overbury, near Reading.

A slightly darker shade of red certainly fits the bill for these freestanding postal storage units at Bedford University.

Gloss black doors with maple shelving certainly bring a touch of class to our Tallwall units seen here in situ for Rolls-Royce in Goodwood.

These recycling units are ready to be transported and installed into the revamped Credit Suisse offices in Central London.

And finally, even if you’ve got an obstacle on your ceiling, it’s no problem to Panel Plan’s expert installers – these ‘dust grey’ storage units have been skillfully scribed to fit around the air conditioning tracks.

As Bob concludes, “Regardless of where you are in the country, regardless of the size, shape or colour of your storage problem, Panel Plan can come up with the solution”.

Same Old, Same Old

Are your clients tired of looking at the same old storage units in their office?

Units that have been in place for years, beginning to fall apart at the seams – or possibly both?

Why not give them a facelift?

At Panel Plan we can assess the internal carcass of these units, repair any damage then refit a new exterior to liven up the working environment and provide clients with the functional storage space they need – we can even move existing units from one room to another if required.

There’s so much to choose from these days; different colours, new opening and locking mechanisms, even a plywood finish!

Please take a look at some of our recent work to see what is possible. If you have any questions please contact Jason at Panel Plan today – sales@panelplan.co.uk

The Bletchley Boys

Panel Plan have recently completed the installation of both Tallwall storage units and lockers at the Alan Turing Research Institute, located within the British Library, in central London.

When Morgan Lovell approached us about the British Library project naturally we were very interested, but when we found out it was for the new Alan Turing Institute we knew we couldn’t refuse the chance to create something extra special,
— Ray Lee, Panel Plan MD

Working in conjunction with Morgan Lovell, this prestigious project took on extra significance for Bletchley based Panel Plan as wartime hero Turing was based just a couple of miles down the road at Bletchley Park.

During the second world war, Alan Turing headed up the code-breaking team at Bletchley Park. It was the brilliant work of this team that led to the cracking of the German naval codes which played such a crucial role in bringing the war to an end.

“Many of the Panel Plan team have visited Bletchley Park over the years, so we were very familiar with the story of Alan Turing. The whole of the team were determined to produce their finest work to honour our local hero – and the results speak for themselves!” added Ray.

The institute, named in Turing’s honour, provides research facilities for data scientists in a wide range of disciplines including; digital humanities, social data science, computer science, mathematics and statistical science.

The completed project, shown below, includes Tallwall units, in both matt and gloss finishes, and dozens of lockers for the institute staff and visiting researchers to store their personal belongings.

The A to Z of lockers…

At Panel Plan, we’ve been inundated with requests for lockers in recent times.

We have been asked to create lockers of varying shapes, sizes, colours and lock combinations, including keyless entry such as card or digital recognition
— Bob Cole, Panel Plan Sales Director

As we’ve reported previously, with the increase in hot desking and the move towards ‘clean desk’ policies, employees are becoming more and more reliant on lockers in order to store their personal belongings during working hours.

Shown below are a selection of recently designed lockers by Panel Plan including the all new ‘Z’ locker which has room to store coats or jackets without creasing.

If you have any questions, or would like to make an enquiry about any of our lockers please contact us on; sales@panelplan.co.uk

Hot desking, red-hot design…

BMW’s new corporate offices in Farnborough, Hampshire are a perfect example of how ‘hot desking’ works.

In total, some 1200 employees will use the ‘flexible’ desk space in the three recently refurbished offices. Panel Plan were commissioned by office specialist, The Furniture Practice, to design, build and install lockers that can be used by the BMW workforce to store their items whilst they work on site.

Fit out of the lockers commenced in late 2014 with the completion of phase one. Phase two was completed earlier this year, with phase three being finished at the time of going to press.

As illustrated by the photographs, the lockers have an unusual ‘letterbox’ style feature and also include a ‘random’ block where a locker is deliberately left out - BMW plans to place awards in these spaces. The lockers are a fine example of how Panel Plan design to meet their clients needs perfectly.

Success in the Second City

Panel Plan are delighted to announce the completion of another successful project between themselves, keyless lock systems specialists, BeCode and interior design experts, City Office - this time in the UK’s 'second city’ of  Birmingham.

1-04-4084.jpg

The task for Panel Plan was to fit 132 lockers in the newly refurbished offices of CBRE - one of the world’s leading commercial property and real estate service advisers. The building itself overlooks the impressive St Philips Cathedral in the heart of Birmingham.

“It took us a little over two days to complete the job” said Bob Cole, Panel Plan’s Sales Director. “The whole project was a pleasure to work on - a large, open plan office which had been carefully designed by City Office, and the ease of working with BeCode’s superb ‘EVO’ lock mechanisms made this simplicity itself” Bob explained.

And the results certainly speak for themselves with a spokesperson for CBRE commenting; “We are over the moon with the finished result!”

Top marks for Panel Plan

It was a case of ‘back to school’ for Panel Plan when our distributor Four Square approached us to create a new range of furniture and storage units at the Kingswood Early Years Centre in Watford.

‘Nothing matched!’ was their first impression so they asked us to provide a solution from one source.

‘There was a mixture of desks, odd storage units, wheeled trolleys with work spilling out of them, lurid coloured lockers and some very ill-fitting pigeon holes’.

As you can see from the before and after images Panel Plan certainly went to the top of the class with a range of beautifully crafted, expertly fitted Tallwall units, including brand new pigeon holes and built in combi-lockers. Matching ‘wave’ desks and a ‘sit at’ bench with a separate wall hung storage cupboard perfectly complimented each other as the school gained its professional makeover.

An 'A Star' for Panel Plan!
